Hungry Heart Screening and Community Dinner -- Drug Take-Back Day -- Dialogue Night!

Did you know that 4 out of 10 teens who misuse prescription drugs get those drugs from their parents’ medicine cabinets? April 26 is National Drug Take Back Day. You can do something about this problem by talking to your children about the importance of not sharing medications; storing your medications securely; and disposing of unused and expired medications. Winooski has a 24-7 (24 hours a day, seven days a week), no-questions-asked, anonymous drop off site right at the Winooski Police Department. The medications receptacle (pills and capsules, only) is just inside the first set of doors, in the corner on the right side. Visit DEA.gov for more locations or to find the nearest to you.

April 21 at the O’Brien Community Center is a community screening provided by the Winooski Memorial Library of the film The Hungry Heart. This event will be combined with the Winooski Coalition April community dinner. In order to facilitate this event, note the dinner will be on a Monday instead of a Wednesday. Also, as a follow-up to this screening and community needs, the WCSPC will be hosting a dialogue night on May 15, as part of collaboration between the Winooski Coalition and Champlain College. Childcare will be available (RSVP required), as well as food. We look forward to helping start this community conversation.
