Annual Meeting & June BBQ
Many thanks to the community members who attended and participated in our first community dialogue night on May 15! Parents, school board members, school faculty, people in recovery, law enforcement, and health care representatives attended, as well as many others interested in working together to strengthen safety and health. The dialogue was facilitated by Julian Portilla and his graduate student, who used creative and interactive methods to generate ideas and discussions, including lots of movement. What we heard a lot of was curiosity to know more, and we look forward to your help in increasing our collective knowledge and coming back together in about a month (date to-be-determined) with the results from our “research.” If you were unable to attend, you may stay up to date on our newsletter, and you may always give us a call or email to find out more.
We hope you will also be able to attend the Winooski Coalition’s annual meeting on Wednesday, June 4, from 6 to 7:30, where we will briefly review our annual report (check it out ahead of time, so that you may come prepared with any questions), elect our board, and share our goals for the year and ask for your input as to how best to accomplish them. Light refreshment will be provided.
On June 18, Wednesday, from 5:30 to 8, you are invited to our annual end-of-the-year bbq. You will partake in good cheer, food, friendship, and also a chance to view the results of Winooski city’s work with the public on redesigning the “gateway”districts. Childcare will be available—please RSVP to rmahony@ccrpcvt.org or (802)846-4490, ext. 28. This event is generously sponsored by the faith community of Winooski, the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission and City of Winooski. Special thanks to the Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Africa, Sisters of Providence, Religious Hospitalers of Saint Joseph, and the Winooski parishes of St. Francis and St. Stephens’ for their generous financial contributions to this event.
Speaking of getting in touch, we have a new email domain (much thanks to our tech-guru board member, Alaina Wermers). You may now email us at katenugent@wcspc.org.
Thanks for reading, and we look forward to seeing you soon.
